Excellence in Arrhythmia Monitoring
Event Recording
Event Monitoring effectively overcomes the limited scope of Holter monitoring by permitting cost effective, long-term ambulatory ECG monitoring. Episodes of cardiac arrhythmia that occur in the course of a patient's daily activities are transmitted telephonically to Global Telemedicine's heart transmission center for analysis and interpretation.
The strips are then sent to the physician for review.
Our staff will contact the physician by telephone and fax or email should the recordings exhibit any abnormalities described in the PHYSICIAN NOTIFICATION PROTOCOL

Global Telemedicine offers two types of recording methods for monitoring cardiac events. Many manufacture's models are available for each method of monitoring and all are "cutting edge" technology.
![]() |
Non-looping (post event) recorder:Captures the ECG that occurs during patient's cardiac symptoms. This technology is best suited for arrhythmias of longer duration as well as higher patient compliance. These non-looping monitors are wireless, small, easy to use and will fit in most pockets, wallets or purses. Larger sizes are available for those patients, such as the elderly, who usually prefer something a little larger to hold on to. |

Looping memory recorder:Continuously monitors then "freezes" and records into memory both the pre and post ECG event. This technology is well-suited for arrhythmias of either short or long duration such as lightheadedness, dizziness, and palpitations but more specifically for patients exhibiting syncope. These looping monitors can be programmed to suit the type of symptom that is being monitored. This type of monitor requires electrodes continuously on the patient's chest which can be removed, for example, to bathe. This is the most cost-effective way to catch transient symptoms that do not occur during 24 hour Holter monitoring. |
Clinical Applications:
- Negative or inconclusive Holter
- Evaluation of rhythm, rate or QT interval changes during drug titration
- Detection of asymptomatic arrhythmias
- Evaluation of symptomatic events such as syncope, weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath, heart fluttering/pounding
- Patient management in rural areas
- Evaluation of specific clinical situations that occur post myocardial infarction, post CABG,
- Post pacemaker implant, second or third degree heart block
